We are all fully vaccinated and we started to travel to visit our family again with our first stop in in Gig Harbor. This was our 3rd trip to Seattle (2017-2021). Washington still has a MASK MANDATE regardless of vaccination status.
We started travel from New Orleans Airport to Seattle Airport during 17 September – 24 September.
– New Orleans Airport/ Long term parking
New Orleans Airport is a new world-class airport; they just renovate and opened in late of 2019 and it’s about time Covid-19 started, so the airport is new and barely used…
We have only been traveling with this airport few times since they opened.
The Long-term parking in the airport area is about $20 per day!!! But there is another cheaper parking lot just $12 per day a little far away. They do have a free shuttle bus between airport and the parking lot. All you need to do, is just plan ahead of time.

– Alaska Airline
Alaska is one of our favorite direct flights from New Orleans to Seattle. The airline is PET-Friendly (REALLY!). The Extra costs for our dog to pay for her fee at the check-in gate is $100 (each leg). Nobody asked to check for her vaccination record (same thing as we had experience in 2017). But well, we already prepared, and it costs us more than $100 from her vet!
On our previous trip that I wrote in 2017, Alaska airline gave us tablets to watch movies on board. It was kind of cool, just sometime the tablet wasn’t really working great. I mean the screen was stuck sometimes.
This time (2021), they just provided us with the Wi-Fi link that we can access by our smartphone/iPad or laptop. It’s very good connections – we watched the movies and tv shows without any problems. And it’s quite good during the pandemic to use your own stuff, not sharing.
So don’t forget to travel with your HEADPHONES/iPod. I’m not sure if we don’t have it, how can we watch the movie on board. Will they give us some headphones???
One last thing that I must mention about the flight attendant who took care us on board from New Orleans to Seattle. He was so nice and worked so hard since we’re boarding. He checked on us at every moment that we needed anything. He made sure that he fed us everything he had on that plane! I think he is the most hard working flight attendant I ever seen on any airline. I wish I could remember his name!
– Seattle Airport/ Car Rental
Seattle airport (TACOMA) is a large airport. We had to take the train from one terminal to another. But once we got our bags, we just walked out any door next to it to the (free)shuttle bus to the Car rental terminal which is about 15 mins away.
No matter what Car Rental Company you rent with, the counters are all lined up in one floor.
We rented our car with NATIONAL and the counter was NOT active when we arrived (around 10pm) but they had a sign that we must check in at the Alamo counter!
The Alamo counter had a very long line and some customers never stopped asking questions, so the line moved very slow… It would be nice if National is still working at their own counter.
But once we got our paper. We walked down to get our car which they let us pick from along line of cars.. The procedure to get our car was very fast and easy. Same as when we returned, they took only ONE minute to check our car back in!
– Butler’s Farm
Butler’s is a self-service shop. Our first visit was in 2017, we saw the sign on the main road which is about 2-3 miles away from our Mother-in-law’s house. This time we took our Mother-in-law to visit Butler’s too. They have so many kinds of Apples(Visited in September). I tried to get at least 1-2lbs apples to try. The Self-shop was easy, you pick- you pack, and you pay money to the safe box by yourself!
My mother-in-law is so happy, she loves gardening and fresh flowers. The owner is very nice, she came out and greeted the customers/Butler’s farm is very small and it’s about 1-1.5 hrs drive from Seattle. So I would recommend to stop if you are passing by.
– Korean H Mart
Who cares about Korean market in Seattle? We do!!! And 3 of us love H MART.
Tim and I justcame back from living in Korea for 3 years, yes we missed some Korean stuff.
Plus, they have lots Thai stuff that I want too. You would never know; Seattle has a really big Korean Community and there are many direct flight from Seoul to Seattle. And if you have been in South Korea (outside of Seoul), you can tell that the Seattle coastline looks a lot like South Korea!
– Pike’s Market
We went back to Pike’s Market on Tuesday (September 22, 2021), less traffic, not too crowded, most of the shops are open. READ MORE
– Heronswood tour
We didFa private group tour of the Heronswood Botanical Garden. The trip was a gift from my mother-in-law. She loves plants, gardens and animals. So we got to spend extra time with her in the garden she loves… Read More
– Poulsbo Village
After the Garden tour we went to Poulsbo Village. This is our first visit at Poulsbo Village, West of Seattle. The little cute city on Liberty Bay. There are so many restaurants, shops, lots of great art galleries, clothing and gift shops. It’s a good town to visit when you’re hungry.
We were guided by our Mother-in-law to have homemade ice-cream and get some bakery goods at a very famous shop. They have good stuff there!
We want to come back here again!
This is our 7 days trip from New Orleans to Seattle during Covid-19. We were very careful to travel, just don’t forget masks and alcohol gel!
Thanks, Brenda, for the great trip!
