Geoje Island

Geoje island is not that big, but there is something fun around the island! These are some places that I have fun at while my husband is at work.

Is it that difficult to buy Peaches in South Korea?  No….? but if I can buy the right one, I will get to eat the best peaches in the world!!!

Okhwa Village (옥화마을) is newly open in December 2020 where you can do 3 things, Okwha Mural Village, Boardwalk(~1km), and 3km hike to Jangseungpo!

Isudo (이수도) is a very small island and it’s very famous for “ONE NIGHT THREE MEAL”. Local tourists spend a night there or go there for fishing. The island itself is also good for hiking (an easy one!)

Oedo Island (Read: We-do) is a small island close to Geoje island. Oedo can only be reached by boat from several piers on the main island of “Geoje”.

The Luge is a small one- or two-person (child on your lap) sled, it’s fun and good for all ages!

Ridding the monorail from POW camp up to the top of the mountain “Gyerong-san”, worth the ride!

Geoje Prisoner of War (POW) camp was built to hold prisoners during the Korean War. Today you can ride a Monorail from the POW camp to the mountaintop (Gyerongsan Mountain) for an amazing view!

Okpo traditional market but named the Okpo International Market! 

As far as I know, the Gehyeon Traditional Market (KR: 거제고현시장) is the biggest market in Geoje Island. There is an Okpo Traditional Market but it’s much smaller.

Jeoguhang port (KR: 저구항) is surrounded by hydrangea with an ocean view next to the famous “Myeongsa Beach”!!!

Manhwapangcho (KR: 만화방초), the Secret Garden has a variety of flowers and greenery, famous for hydrangeas blooming between June- July.
