Jeoguhang port (KR: 저구항) is surrounded by hydrangea with an ocean view next to the famous “Myeongsa Beach”!!!
If you come here for the right time you can enjoy the Myeongsa beach and the Hydrangea at the same time. You can also visit Windy Hill, Sinseondae Observatory, and Mangsan Mountain (REAL HIKING!), and stop for Baram Hotdog the popular local snack and drinks!

My friend “Tammy”, told me when I finished 14days quarantine (Covid-19), it would be a perfect time for Hydrangea in full bloom at Geoje Island (2nd week of June – 2nd week of July).
At first, I thought she was talking about the park with the hydrangea…I was just “oh ok, hydrangea” LOL
In the Korean language, Hydrangea is Sugug (수국). I made the mistake to call it Gugsu (국수) many times until I could remember Gugsu is noodle in Korean!!!
Once we got out of quarantine, we drove to Sinseondae Observatory, and both sides of the street on our drive were full of blooming hydrangea, it’s very special to drive just to get to the observatory.
Hydrangea are blooming along the roads, when you drive and get closer to Hallyeohaesan National Park, it’s more than 5kms long that both sides of the road are full of hydrangea.
Personally, I like to get there by road no.1 (above map). There are more beautiful hydrangea!
For the first time, we had no idea where to get off the car to take pictures.
One of our pictures with the Hydrangea was by the street, it’s not that safe (not recommended).
I saw many people recommend going to Jeo-gu-hang (KR: 저구항), where you can park our car and walk over the hill to see the hydrangea!

Hydrangea is in full bloom during the rainy season in South Korea, the best time to visit is the 2nd week of June to the 2nd week of July.
The picture of Hydrangea and the ocean view is the perfect match, and it makes this place very famous during the hydrangea season in Geoje island.
There is a small road on top of Hydrangea Hill.
We can see over the Jeoguhang town.
Local shops and houses in Jeoguhang.
More pictures with hydrangea…ha ha ha
From Jeoguhang port you can walk over the corner to Myeongsa Beach. I was here to hike the Mangsan Mountian last winter as well.
Not too far from here, you can go to Windy hill and stop for some hotdogs as we did!
If you are not living in Geoje like us, you can find a good pension (house for rent) in this area, or come to a camp like the locals!
There is another landmark for Hydrangea in Geoje, it’s a huge blooming bush in front of the small house. We just drove pass on the way back from Hakdong Beach to Okpo.
Our top 3 to visit during the Hydrangea season in South Korea, Jeoguhang Port (Geoje), Manhwapangcho (Goseong), Taejongsa Temple (Busan).
