It was a nice idea to see the show here at Calypso Bangkok, the show by the unbelievably beautiful transsexuals, as knows as the lady-boys in Thailand.
These outstanding performers give show to display their uniqueness and dance skills.
The Calypso theatre has been moved a couple times around Bangkok and now the theatre is at Asiatique the Riverfront, a nice night shopping area along the Chao Phraya River which opens everyday from 6pm to midnight.
The Calypso theater and ticket office is in Warehouse no.3 which is really easy to find. There are 2 show times/day, 8.15pm and 9.45pm. (Dinner starts at 6pm)
The ticket is 1,200 baht (regular price ~$40 USD, show only – RECOMMENDED!) at the office OR you can book in advance on the official website (http://www.calypsocabaret.com) where you will guarantee better seats! The tickets include a drink (see the menu on the right Drink Coupon) when you sit down.
They provide the package of dinner, a Thai favorite food set and Thai traditional dance and the Show at regular price is 2,000 baht ($67).
The ticket office is open about 7pm, to get the ticket at this office – you can’t choose where to sit but they will try to group you together as much as they can.
It looks like the group of 2,3,5 person will be the perfect match the set up, 2 chairs between a small table in front, and another 3 chairs in the back…
Anyway, we liked the theatre, pretty clean and good quality with excellent service. Today, we bought the ticket for 8.15pm show, and the show started right on time…
It was hard to count for how many performances, but it will be about 1 hour with no break. All the show is about dancing and lip singing, between fun-fast songs and sad-slow songs.
It’s a little goofy but we did enjoy the show so much. It might not be the show that we would like to come back again and again to see it, but I bet you’ll be entertained by all beautiful lady boys here…
After show is over, we will be lead to the exit way…it’s quite narrow exit and people moved slow.
Because all the show girls are standing waiting for you to take pictures with!
II was very curious when I saw all of them on the stage, can’t tell they look like the real women BUT they made me feel really bad when I tried to take picture with them, they were all so sexy!!!
Taking pictures with them requires TIPING!!! – I bet you don’t want to make them mad!!!
This Calypso show is one thing for everybody to try when you want to do something at night in Bangkok.
They allow you to have the kids see the show but I would rather NOT recommend you to do that, some of the outfits are too tight and too SEXY and kids might get confused to see guys in bikinis!!!
WELL don’t just come to see the show, you’ll find the Asiatique is an awesome place where you can kill lots of time enjoying the venue, food, etc. before and after the show!
If you are not sure about this show, try the cultural show at Siam Niramit which is good for all ages!
